Awesome Mac Settings
I just got a new mac. These are the things I did to increase productivity, based on what I’m used to.
-
Keyboard settings Open up “Keyboard” settings. Set “Key repeat rate” and “Delay until repeat” to “Fast” and “Short” respectively. When you’re back-spacing and moving the cursor around with the arrow keys, it’s as snappy as can be.
-
Mouse settings Under “Mouse” settings, turn off natural scrolling. I really don’t get how “natural scrolling” is natural. Set “tracking speed”, “Double click speed” and “Scroll speed” to the last or second last setting depending on what feels better.
-
Dark Mode Under “Appearance” Select Dark mode
-
Quick Zoom Under “Accessibility”, select “Use Scroll gesture with modifier keys to Zoom” and practise this by holding down the ^ Control button and scrolling.
-
Download Rectangle I used to love Spectacle. Rectangle is the closest tool (https://rectanglemac.app/) The window resizing+positioning shortcuts (Cmd+opt+Left arrow/Right arrow) are really useful. I feel like a fish out of water if this shortcut doesn’t work.
